Finalized Artists so far...

We have now finalized a list of artists whose work we would like to be exhibited in our show following the theme of Ethereal. This shortlist may be altered depending on whether the artist is willing to let us use their work or whether we find other/alternative pieces of work that would fit well into the overall concept of our exhibition.

Artwork:

Jack Marder-
These pieces are by artist Jack Marder. There is a series of these style of painting some are large scale whilst others are on a much smaller scale. They are also both wall or floor based which makes them very transitional, useful for our show. These pieces are mixed media made from materials such as glitter, salt, acrylic and glue. They resemble pool like explosions of paint with connotations of mystery and enigma which strongly link to our theme of ethereal.

Becky Price-
These glass slippers are by artist Becky Price. They seem to be made of resin with printed typeface however we are unable to decipher the text until we can speak to the artist. These slippers link to our theme of ethereal very strongly and also the fantasy/fairytale which we briefly explored due the connotations of Cinderellas glass slippers. This piece could be placed either on the floor on a white plinth.

Riba Begum-

This painting is by artist Riba Begum. It is reasonably large and again is part of a series of magpie paintings. The background seems to have been built up through layers of dark muted tones which have then been further darkened by the vertical black lines. This is then juxtaposed against the white highlighted area with the three main motifs-the magpies, the feather and the text. These paintings are mysterious again linking to ethereal.

Irene Kaseavic-

These four sketches are by artist Irene Kaseavic at the moment they are each about an A4 scale. These are simply sketches at  the moment and are due to be drawn on a much larger scale. These soft delicate drawings are perfect for our ethereal theme, they suggest tones of femininity and beauty.

Sukhjinder Nahal-
These piece is by artist Sukhjinder Nahal. It is a installation piece made of a white cube frame with intersecting coloured thread which creates a pattern. This piece could be hung which would perhaps link it to our theme more we could also look at lighting the inside of the cube to create mysterious shadows on the walls.
