This is our letter of intent that will be sent out to all of the artists that we are interested in using for our exhibition. It covers everything that the artist needs to know about the exhibition and what they can expect from us. It is written in a proffesional manner which is key as our exhibition is due to be organized and shown to a very high standard. This letter was kindly written by Julia and overseen by the rest of the group.
Dear Sir/Madam,
We are writing to ask
for your permission to include a piece of your work in an upcoming
exhibition in Margaret Street’s Project Space 1. Our exhibition will be
the final outcome of our level 4 module ‘Art and Exhibition’ , a group
based project which entails planning and putting on an exhibition using
selected level 5 and 6 student work. We are due to install work
for show on Wednesday the 12th of February, and the deconstruction of
the exhibition will take place on Friday 14th of February. The
exhibition will be a selection of several different artists’ work, and
we envision choosing a theme once we have heard back from the other
artists we have approached, as we want to ensure that we have
interpreted your work in the correct way! We visited the level 5 and 6
studios in the building and as a group decided to ask you about your
work- we would love to be able to include some in our exhibition! This
is a short list of things you can expect from us, and, if you were
interested in being part of the exhibition, also what we would need from
you to make it happen:
What you can expect from us
•
A
professional attitude towards installation of work, caring for your
pieces of work throughout installation, exhibition and deconstruction
•
A list of dates which, if you would like to be involved with the progress of the exhibition, you are welcome to attend
•
A copy of the press release where you work will be discussed in conjunction with the other artists in the exhibition
•
An invitation to join our closed Facebook group, where we record and discuss our progress in the project
What we would expect from you
•A small piece of writing and/or a chat with us about any processes and
concepts involved in making the piece (s) and a list of details about
the work, i.e. size, media.
•your full name and any other
information you would like to accompany your work, including potential
website details or a stack of business cards etc
•Any other
input you would like to add, to make sure your work comes across in a
way that you are happy with in our exhibition, and your satisfaction
that we will look after your work.
•A way to be able to contact you, should we need to get hold of you for any reason, such as a phone number or email address.
If you would be interested in allowing us to borrow your work for
exhibition, we would like to hear back from you about your work via
email and/or an arranged meeting with our group. We have included all
our names so you can find us on Facebook, email us within the BCU email
system, or find us in studios. We look forward to hearing from you!
Yours Faithfully,
John/Janet’s Tutor group
