Advertising our Exhibition - Social Media

 The Event

After the advertisement design was finished and completed I began to promote the exhibition by posting our opening night event on Social Media sites such as Facebook. The event included all relevant information such as address, date and time. It also includes information about the food and beverages that will be available to the visitors on the opening night. It was key that the event was public but ensured that it states it is exclusive to Birmingham City University Students only. This means that the event does not become invite only, and so it should result in more people seeing the event and attending. The banner for the event is taken from one of Jack pieces which is linked to the flyer and press release. It also gives the viewers an insight into the type of exhibition and the artwork they can expect to see at the event. We already have 42 people that are said to be attending which is a brilliant amount for our opening night, which means the event is working well for advertising purposes. This also gives us an indication on how many people we will need to cater for at the private viewing.

Promoting the Event

I then began to post the event on every BCU Facebook group that I could find including all of the Fine Art year groups. I also advertised the event on many student accommodation groups such as Jennens Court, Opal, and Curzon Gateway in order to appeal to as vast audience as possible. I will continue to regularly promote this event on these Facebook Groups in order to remind people that the event it to take place next week.
