Photo Documentation of Installation

Photo Evidence

Through the duration of installation day I took a series of regular photos in order to evidence and document the development of the install.

It is difficult to see in the image above, however this image portrays the fishing wire structure which was raised at the top of the studio walls. This basic structure was attached to the walls using hook which the wire was then knotted to, and doubled up in order to strengthen the structure.

After the fishing wire structure was completed we began to overlay the fabric over the structure to create the 'marquee' style. We had to use the ladder in order to reach the structure and layer it over the correct stretches of wire.

The two main pieces of white fabric are now up, this forms the basis for our material structure. In this image it is already evident how the lights will work with the material from the shimmer and sheen it creates.

From this image you can see we have layered the deep purple fabric over the white organza. We layered this diagonally in order to create the marquee style that we want.

Once all the fabric has been roughly gathered into place, we began to cluster the plinths into the centre of the space in order to create more room in the doorway and also to gain a general idea of how the exhibition would begin to take shape.

Here all of the fabric is in place ready to be attached using knots and fishing to the wall so the remaining fabric hangs down and floats just above the floor level. We have also began to experiment with the lighting, turning off the main lights and using the two spotlights focused on the centre of the space.

Individually we began to experiment placing the artwork on the plinths that have also been scattered and layered. This process took a lot of communication between the group as we wanted everyone to be as happy as can be with the visual presentation of the work. It took a long time to to arrange the work in various places as the arrangement was altered a number of times.

Again this another image of various arrangements we experimented with.

Another arrangement, with the string cube placed flat on the ground rather than angled.
