Press Release

A press release is a written article aimed at the viewers that attend the exhibition. These are typically advertised in magazines, flyers and newspapers. The aim is to attract the people to the exhibition and give a brief explanation into the concept and context of the show. Julia has offered to write the press release with input from the rest of the group whilst Anna, Emma and Megan are going to design the final draft.

 This press release is from a recent exhibition that I visited at the Ikon Gallery in January. It is quite a basic and simple design with one bold colour which highlights the Gallery. The context of the press release provides all the vital information i.e artists background, dates, concepts and themes. However I think the design would work better with a slightly more interesting layout, perhaps a soft background just to make the piece as a whole more visually exciting. I think this is something that should be considered when writing our press release.
